Two detained for inappropriate acts near Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi
REASI, July 19 — District Police Reasi has detained two individuals following the circulation of a viral video showing an obscene act near the market area of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. The incident, which took place on July 17, reportedly disrupted the ongoing yatra and hurt the religious sentiments of the devotees.
Police acted swiftly after the video surfaced on social media and drew widespread public attention.Upon receiving the information, the Bhawan Police Station registered an FIR under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against four individuals, including two boys and two girls.
Special police teams were immediately formed to identify and locate those involved in the incident.During the investigation, authorities successfully traced and detained two of the accused. One has been identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Talwara in the Reasi district.
The second individual, a juvenile, was processed under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and subsequently handed over to family members after legal formalities were completed. Police teams are currently conducting operations to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
District Police Reasi has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the sanctity of religious sites and maintaining public order. The authorities emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who attempts to disturb the peace or disrespect the sentiments of pilgrims visiting the shrine.
