Prohibitory orders active in New Delhi ahead of proposed protest march

NEW DELHI, July 19: The Delhi Police issued a public advisory today clarifying that no permission has been sought or granted for a proposed protest march to Parliament by CJP scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026.

Authorities stated that prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS are currently in force across the New Delhi District. Under these regulations, all protest marches, processions, demonstrations, and assemblies of five or more persons are strictly prohibited, with exceptions made only for authorized gatherings at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar.

The advisory noted that strict security arrangements have been implemented to ensure public safety, protect vital government installations, and secure protectees as the Parliament session begins.

Officials warned that any individual violating the prohibitory orders will face prosecution under Section 223 BNS and other applicable legal provisions. The Delhi Police urged citizens to respect the law, avoid participating in unauthorized gatherings, and cooperate with law enforcement to maintain public peace and security.
