Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha reviews Rajouri and Poonch flash flood situation

SRINAGAR, July 19 — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted a comprehensive review of the situation in Rajouri and Poonch districts following severe disruptions caused by incessant rain and flash floods.

Speaking after consultations with senior administrative and security officials, the Lieutenant Governor confirmed that joint rescue teams comprising the civil administration, police, army, State Disaster Response Force, and local volunteers are actively deployed on the ground to manage the crisis.

He assured that affected families have already been safely evacuated to secure locations, while all government departments have been placed on high alert to prioritize immediate relief and infrastructure repair work.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives reported from Rajouri as well as the Haveli and Surankote areas of Poonch district, extending his condolences to the grieving families.

Acknowledging the widespread property damage caused by the heavy downpour, he directed district officials to immediately distribute financial and material aid to all affected households across both districts.

He further emphasized that emergency response teams remain fully prepared to handle any escalating situations and urged local residents to stay calm and adhere strictly to official advisories.
