Jammu Police, SDRF Rescue Three Stranded Persons from Rising River Tawi Near Peer Kho

JAMMU, July 19, 2026: In a swift and coordinated emergency operation, the Jammu Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) successfully rescued three individuals who became trapped in the River Tawi near the Peer Kho Temple following a sudden rise in water levels.

The crisis unfolded after a distress call alerted authorities that the trio, who had gone to bathe in the river, was stranded due to the unexpected surge. Responding promptly, a team led by the SDPO City North, SHO Police Station Pacca Danga, and In-charge Police Post Chowk Chabutra, alongside SDRF personnel, rushed to the scene. The teams executed a seamless rescue plan, safely evacuating all three individuals—identified as Randeep Singh of Jhullaka Mohalla, Munish Sharma of Afghana Mohalla, and Vikas Kumar of Bihar (currently residing near the Jammu Bus Stand)—without any injuries.

Following the successful operation, the SDPO City North used a public announcement system to urge citizens to stay away from the banks of the River Tawi due to fluctuating water levels. Authorities have strongly advised parents to keep children away from the riverbeds and appealed to the general public to exercise utmost caution near water bodies during the monsoon season, reminding them to report any emergencies immediately to the Police Control Room.
