J&K CM Omar Abdullah Cuts Short Delhi Visit, Rushes to Jammu as Torrential Rains Trigger Flash Flood Concerns
JAMMU, July 19, 2026 :- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said he has been closely monitoring the impact of relentless rainfall that has lashed several parts of Jammu division, with Rajouri town and nearby areas among the worst affected.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said he has remained in constant contact with local MLAs since early morning and stressed that protecting lives remains the government’s highest priority.
He assured that the administration is working on a war footing to provide relief and assistance to families affected by flash floods and rain-related damage.
Citing the latest weather warning issued by the Meteorological Department and the evolving situation across the Jammu region, Abdullah announced that he would leave Delhi and travel to Jammu to personally oversee relief and response operations.
He also clarified that the scheduled protest demanding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood would continue as planned under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah, while he focuses on monitoring the emergency situation on the ground.
