Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joins Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan in Baramulla
SRINAGAR, July 19: The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the Mahayajna Dharma Sammelan in Baramulla today, highlighting the event as a symbol of spiritual rebirth, harmony, and national unity for Jammu Kashmir and the rest of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Sinha emphasized that in the Sanatan tradition, a yajna represents selfless sacrifice and shared responsibility aimed at fostering global peace. He noted that Baramulla has historically served as a gateway of culture, a confluence of ideas, and a major center of spiritual knowledge, adding that the event aims to revive this glorious heritage in a region where all faiths are respected.
Sinha stated that the Mahayajna is breathing new life into a spiritual legacy that gives Jammu Kashmir its unique identity. He remarked that while the world struggles with divisions and conflicts, the prayers, Vedic verses, and teachings of the Bhagavad Gita rising from Baramulla offer humanity a powerful message of peace, goodwill, and coexistence.
According to Sinha, the regional spiritual tradition removes distinctions of language, region, caste, and custom, standing as a living expression of national unity where all religions have historically flourished.The address also focused on the responsibilities of the younger generation and the importance of environmental conservation.
Sinha urged the youth to cultivate virtues like patience, compassion, and selfless love, while stating that conserving nature should be viewed as a spiritual duty. He reminded the gathering that thousands of years ago, ancestors taught the reverence of nature by treating rivers and the Earth as mothers. He concluded by stressing the need for a cultural revival, urging the youth to take pride in history, preserve local languages and arts, and demonstrate to the world that modernity and spirituality can successfully coexist.
The event was attended by Brij Lal Bhat, Culture Department Principal Secretary Brij Mohan Sharma, DIG North Kashmir Range Vinod Kumar, Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Baramulla SSP Gurinderpal Singh, Maharishi Kashyap Colony President Shivanand Rohit Raina, alongside senior officials, religious leaders, civil society members, and a large number of citizens.
