Ramban Admin on High Alert: Deputy Commissioner Monitors Highway Restoration, Essential Services Amid Adverse Weather

RAMBAN, JULY 19: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan personally monitored the situation across the district following an adverse weather advisory and intermittent rainfall. The inspection focused heavily on National Highway-44 at the Nashri landslide site and other vulnerable locations to assess the impact of the inclement weather and review restoration measures undertaken by the concerned departments.

To ensure rapid response, the DC directed all Sub Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars to remain stationed in their respective jurisdictions, maintain close coordination with line departments, and monitor the situation round the clock. Field officers were instructed to stay in constant touch with the District Administration and immediately report any incident requiring urgent intervention. Concurrently, officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), BRO/BECON, the Public Works Department (PWD), and PMGSY were ordered to deploy adequate manpower and machinery to restore all affected roads at the earliest, with an emphasis on keeping the National Highway traffic-worthy for commuters and emergency services.

The District Administration has activated all essential services and restoration agencies to address the current weather conditions. While reviewing public utilities, the DC took stock of water supply, power supply, healthcare facilities, and the availability of essential commodities, directing officers to ensure uninterrupted delivery and prioritize any service disruptions. A District Control Room has also been activated for round-the-clock monitoring and public assistance.

Additionally, the DC inspected arrangements at Yatri Niwas Chanderkote and other designated locations where Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims are staying following the temporary suspension of the Yatra. Officials were directed to maintain high standards for accommodation, food, drinking water, sanitation, and medical facilities to ensure pilgrim comfort and safety.

Finally, the Deputy Commissioner issued an appeal to the general public, advising citizens to strictly follow official weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel in landslide-prone areas, remain vigilant, and report emergencies to the District Control Room. During the inspections, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hamid, Project Director NHAI Shubham Yadav, and other departmental officers.
