Poonch Flash Floods: CM Omar Abdullah Expresses Grief Over Loss of Lives, Rushes to Jammu to Monitor Rescue Operations

JAMMU, JULY 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of lives caused by severe flash floods and landslides in the Poonch district, directing administrative authorities to ensure all possible assistance reaches the affected families without any delay. Extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, the Chief Minister confirmed that the local administration, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Police, and all other concerned agencies are fully mobilized and engaged in active rescue and relief operations. In light of a serious weather warning issued by the Meteorological Department and the escalating situation unfolding across parts of the Jammu division, the Chief Minister announced that he will cut short his schedule in Delhi to fly to Jammu this afternoon to personally monitor the ground situation.

Emphasizing that the administration’s primary priority remains the safeguarding of precious lives, the Chief Minister has been in constant communication with local MLAs from the affected region to closely assess the evolving scenario and coordinate ongoing relief efforts. He assured that the government will deploy every resource available to aid those who have suffered losses of life, property, and general infrastructure damage due to the relentless heavy rains.
