Police arrest drug peddler with heroin in Reasi
REASI, May 12, 2026: Reasi Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5.55 grams of heroin as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan. The operation, conducted under the supervision of Mukund Tibrewal, took place near the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University gate when a police team from Katra intercepted an auto rickshaw traveling from Sool toward Kotla.
During the search, officers discovered the contraband in the possession of Surinder Kumar, a resident of Kandyar.Following the recovery, police took the suspect into custody and seized the narcotics.
An official case has been registered at the Katra Police Station under the NDPS Act, and a formal investigation is currently underway.
The operation was led by SHO Katra Police Station Ranjeet Singh Rao with oversight from SDPO Katra Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ending drug trafficking in the region and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to help eliminate the narcotics trade.
