Indian Army contingent to participate in Seychelles 50th National Day celebrations
VICTORIA, June 28, 2026 :- An Indian Army marching contingent is scheduled to participate in the 50th National Day celebrations of Seychelles on June 29, 2026, marking the Golden Jubilee of the independence of Seychelles.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event as the Guest of Honour. This participation highlights the longstanding historical ties and the strong strategic partnership between India and Seychelles, which encompasses defence cooperation, development, culture, and trade.The Indian Army contingent consists of 32 personnel from the Assam Regiment and is led by Captain Aryan H. Deolekar.
An Indian Navy marching contingent and a military band will also take part in the celebrations, showcasing the close and enduring defence partnership between the two nations. The presence of the Indian Armed Forces serves as a symbol of mutual trust, military camaraderie, and a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, while also underscoring India’s role as a reliable partner in ensuring peace and security in the Indian Ocean Region.
Indian Armed Forces contingents have a history of representing the country at major international ceremonial events, such as the Bastille Day Parade in France in 2023, the Victory Day Parade in Bangladesh in 2021, and the Victory Day Parades in Russia in 2015 and 2020. The upcoming participation in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles reaffirms the special bond between the two countries and emphasizes the expanding depth of their bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.
