NEW DELHI, JUNE 27: The Indian Defence Forces clarified that the supreme sacrifice of six fallen soldiers during Operation Sindoor was acknowledged and honoured by the nation at the earliest opportunity, contradicting recent media and social media reports suggesting their contributions were only recently recognized.

The then Director General of Military Operations paid a solemn tribute to these soldiers during an official press conference on May 11, 2025. Following this, the bravehearts were officially conferred with gallantry awards, which were published in a national press release on August 14, 2025, alongside immediate tributes shared across the official social media platforms of the Indian Army.

The formal recognition of these national heroes continued into subsequent military events. The Chief of the Air Staff presented gallantry awards during a solemn ceremony on October 08, 2025, and the Chief of the Army Staff presented the Sena Medal (Gallantry) to the families of three of the soldiers during the Army Day Parade in Jaipur on January 15, 2026.

Furthermore, authorities emphasized that the process of engraving the names of fallen soldiers on the National War Memorial follows a strict, well-defined protocol conducted with utmost reverence, dismissing any claims of procedural delays as factually incorrect.

The official statement expressed regret over the unfounded controversy, noting that misleading narratives cause unnecessary anguish to bereaved families and detract from the dignity owed to national heroes.

All stakeholders and media outlets are urged to exercise responsibility, practice restraint, and refrain from disseminating unverified information regarding the armed forces. The Indian Defence Forces reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to honouring every soldier who makes the supreme sacrifice, ensuring the memory of the Operation Sindoor bravehearts continues to be held with the highest gratitude and reverence.
