PM Modi cuts official convoy size by half to promote fuel conservation

NEW DELHI, May 13, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ordered a 50 percent reduction in the number of vehicles in his official convoy as part of a significant austerity drive.

This decision comes in response to the ongoing West Asia crisis and the subsequent rise in global crude oil prices. Sources indicate that the Prime Minister has already implemented this smaller motorcade during recent visits to Vadodara and Guwahati.

In addition to reducing the number of vehicles, the Prime Minister has instructed the security teams to prioritize the use of electric vehicles within the existing fleet.
