Udhampur Police Destroys Over Three Tonnes of Seized Narcotics Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 27: The District Drug Disposal Committee of Udhampur, led by the Senior Superintendent of Police, successfully destroyed a massive consignment of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in alignment with the national Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign.
The destruction process was executed through scientific incineration at a specialized healthcare facility in Vijaypur, Samba, across two separate sessions on June 20 and June 27. The entire operation was carried out in strict compliance with the statutory legal formalities under the NDPS Act and followed environmental guidelines set by the Central Pollution Control Board.
The destroyed contraband comprised a substantial cache of illegal substances, including nearly 3,696 kilograms of poppy straw, over 71 kilograms of charas, and more than one kilogram of heroin. Additionally, the disposal included 18 kilograms of cannabis plant material, 885 grams of ganja, and 21,965 units of restricted capsules and tablets.
This large-scale disposal serves as a major step by local authorities to prevent the recirculation of illegal drugs into the community and to disrupt the supply chains of drug trafficking networks operating within the region.Udhampur Police reaffirmed their dedication to eradicating substance abuse through rigorous law enforcement, continuous public awareness, and active community involvement.
Officials reiterated that strict legal action will persist against individuals involved in the drug trade. The police department also urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively support the mission of achieving a drug-free society by reporting suspicious activities and helping spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.
