Javed Ahmed Rana reviews development works and annual action plan for Poonch

SRINAGAR, MAY 13 — Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to evaluate ongoing development projects and the annual action plan for Poonch district.

The session, attended by senior officers from the PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, and PWD departments, focused on sector-wise priorities and the progress of infrastructure works. The Minister emphasized the necessity of realistic planning and the efficient use of resources to ensure that the annual plan addresses the genuine needs of the public, particularly regarding drinking water, road connectivity, healthcare, and education.

During the discussions, Javed Ahmed Rana underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to project timelines. He directed officials to maintain close coordination and involve elected representatives in the planning process to foster inclusive, need-based growth. Special attention was given to remote and border areas that have historically been underserved, with the Minister asserting that no segment of the population should be left behind.

He called for the prioritization of projects with high public impact and instructed officers to resolve any existing bottlenecks in a time-bound manner.The various departments presented their proposed outlays while highlighting recent achievements and operational challenges within the district.

After a detailed review of these proposals, the Minister provided directions for refining the consolidated plan to ensure it serves as an effective roadmap for progress.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced and equitable development, stating that the ultimate goal of these initiatives is to accelerate regional growth and significantly improve the quality of life for the residents of Poonch.
