Udhampur Police Launch Community Campaigns to Tackle Substance Abuse

UDHAMPUR, April 14, 2026 :-Udhampur Police are intensifying their efforts to combat drug addiction through a series of outreach events designed to educate and protect the community.

These latest initiatives are part of the broader Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, a regional movement focused on creating a safer environment by addressing the root causes and consequences of narcotics.

By hosting interactive sessions in various neighborhoods, law enforcement officials are working to ensure that every citizen understands the long-term damage that substance abuse can inflict on families and the local economy.

One of the primary sessions took place at the Ponara police post, led by the Basantgarh station team. Officers engaged directly with residents to discuss how addiction affects personal health and social stability.

The lecture focused on the importance of early intervention and encouraged neighbors to look out for one another. This grassroots approach aims to empower individuals to take a stand against illegal activities in their own backyards, fostering a sense of collective responsibility that goes beyond traditional policing.

In a separate collaboration, the police teamed up with the UMEED Self Help Group at Panchayat Sira to reach a wider audience. This event brought together local leaders and residents to talk about the legal consequences of drug trafficking and the social stigma that often prevents people from seeking help.

Speakers emphasized that community participation is the most effective tool in preventing the spread of drugs. The high level of engagement from the public suggests a strong local desire to support these safety measures and work toward a healthier future for the region.
