Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Congratulates National Handloom Award Winners

SRINAGAR, Aug 10 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended warm congratulations to artisan weavers Manzoor Ahmad Hajam and Fayaz Ahmad Wani after they received the National Handloom Award from President Droupadi Murmu.

The duo was honored for their joint entry, the Chand-Daar Kani Shawl, during a ceremony held in New Delhi to mark National Handloom Day.The prestigious award includes a citation along with a cash prize of 2.5 lakh rupees.

Celebrating their recognition, the Chief Minister remarked that their achievement highlights the timeless artistic legacy and craftsmanship of Jammu and Kashmir’s handloom tradition.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting local artisans, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting indigenous crafts across national and global markets.
