Jammu Citizens Donate Wheelchairs and Honor War Wounded Soldiers at Satwari Military Hospital
JAMMU, Aug 10 — Ahead of Army Wives Welfare Association Day on August 23, an outreach event took place at Military Hospital Satwari on August 9, 2026, aimed at strengthening bonds between the defense forces and local residents while furthering the welfare of soldiers’ families, war wounded personnel, Veer Naris, and ex-servicemen.
As part of this collaborative effort, local citizens contributed 13 wheelchairs to assist elderly ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and disabled soldiers navigating the hospital complex.The initiative was conceptualized and planned by Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd) and Paramjit Kaur, who encouraged Jammu residents to support the cause.
The Zonal President of the Army Wives Welfare Association attended as the chief guest. A central highlight was the presence of war wounded soldiers, including Capt Mohd Sadiq, SC, Nk Romesh, and Nk Tarsame Singh, who shared firsthand accounts of sustained injuries during combat and their determination to fulfill their duty.
Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd) shared that local citizens have adopted families of Veer Naris across Jammu and Kashmir to offer psychological guidance and assist with their children’s education. He noted that decorated soldiers and war wounded veterans are regularly honored at public events, while veterans visit local schools to deliver motivational talks to students.
Contributors to the wheelchair donation included Swatanter Aggarwal, Pradeep Jain, Naveen Jain, Ramnik Singh, Prof Arti Bakshi, Jaininder Jain, Anoop Jain, and Dr Ritesh Gupta. The event featured a patriotic musical performance by Suresh Bala, followed by the chief guest presenting certificates of appreciation to donors, participating veterans, and performers.
The chief guest praised Jammu residents for supporting defense personnel and commended Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd) for leading welfare initiatives. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Commandant of Military Hospital Satwari, acknowledging the collective participation of citizens, donors, veterans, and organizers.
