Kathua Police Seize 23 Grams of Heroin and Arrest Two Alleged Drug Smugglers
KATHUA, August 10, 2026 — Police in Kathua have arrested two suspected narco-smugglers and seized approximately 23 grams of a heroin-like substance during a targeted operation at Galak in the Ramkot area.
Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team established a checkpoint on August 9 and intercepted two individuals traveling under suspicious circumstances toward Galak.The individuals were identified as Pawan Dev Singh of Majalta, Udhampur, and Naresh Singh of Ramkot, Kathua. Upon searching the suspects, officers recovered around 20 grams of the contraband from Pawan Dev Singh and roughly 3 grams from Naresh Singh.
Police personnel seized the narcotics and took both individuals into custody on the spot. A case has been registered at the Billawar police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a further investigation is underway.
