Udhampur Police Arrest Drug Peddler with Heroin Under Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan
Udhampur, April 18:-In a continued effort to advance the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized a quantity of heroin in the Tikri area today.
The department reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating the drug menace through a combination of intensified enforcement and community awareness programs aimed at safeguarding the youth from substance abuse.
The arrest occurred when a patrolling team from the Tikri Police Post intercepted a suspicious individual on the road connecting Tikri to Katra. The suspect was identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar and a resident of Chiryai Dhanu in the Udhampur district.
During the subsequent search, officers recovered 2.50 grams of heroin from the suspect’s possession. Following the recovery, the individual was taken into custody and a formal case was registered at the Rehambal Police Station.
The police have filed FIR number 80/2026 under sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
A detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the contraband and identify any further links to local drug trafficking networks.
