Samba Police conducted a mock drill ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

SAMBA, June 17, 2026 :- The Samba Police conducted a comprehensive mock drill on the Amarnath Ji Yatra contingency plan near the AIIMS Bridge in Vijaypur. The exercise was designed to evaluate the preparedness, communication, and response capabilities of multiple stakeholder agencies ahead of the annual pilgrimage.

Security forces and disaster management teams focused on refining their coordination strategies to handle potential emergencies effectively along the route.The simulated exercise was carried out under the direct supervision of the SDPO Vijaypur and the SHO PS Vijaypur.

The operation drew active participation from diverse teams, including the Samba Police, Special Operations Group Samba, Central Armed Police Forces, State Disaster Response Force, the Fire and Emergency Services Department, and the Health and Services Department. Each unit worked to align their specialized roles within a unified command structure.

The scenario involved a simulated emergency situation affecting the movement of the Amarnath Ji Yatra convoy. Immediately after the alert was triggered, all participating agencies deployed to the site and activated established standard operating procedures. The drill allowed teams to test their real-time communication channels and physical response times in a controlled yet high-pressure environment.

Following the conclusion of the exercise, representatives from the participating agencies reviewed the performance to identify areas for improvement and further strengthen the contingency response framework. The SSP Samba emphasized that regular drills are essential for boosting operational readiness, minimizing response times, and ensuring seamless coordination among all departments dedicated to keeping the pilgrimage safe.
