Strengthening Civil Military Synergy for Assam’s Development

Assam June 17,2026 :- Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla GOC Gajraj Corps IA, held a productive interaction with Dr Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary of Assam to further strengthen collaboration between the Army and the State Government.

Discussions focussed on establishing a museum, on the lines of the Kameng Cultural and Heritage Museum at Dirang for preserving and promoting Assam’s rich military, cultural and historical heritage, along with information on diverse flora and fauna in the state.

Opportunities to upscale and promote Tezpur’s products including Tezpur litchis for wider participation by tourists and horticulturists from across the country and ways to enhance the scale of the Tezpur Litchi Festival were also explored.

The interaction highlighted a shared commitment to preparing Assam’s youth by conducting coaching for both written and physical examinations for careers in the armed forces, CAPFs and State Police through focused initiatives.

The conduct of the Durand Cup for 2026 under the aegis of Gajraj Corps IA was also a key point of discussion. Matters related to security around military stations, civil areas, land management and promotion of joint preservation, conservation and propagation of flora and fauna in conjunction with ZSI and BSI and initiatives for making Military Stations and the areas around them Purple were also discussed, thus reaffirming the importance of close coordination between the Army and the State Government in advancing the interests of the nation and the people of Assam.
