Prateek Yadav Brother of Akhilesh Yadav and Husband of Aparna Yadav Passes Away at 38

LUCKNOW, May 13, 2026 :- Prateek Yadav, the younger brother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and son of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 38.

Prateek, who was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhana Gupta, had been battling health issues for several days. He was initially treated at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow, where Akhilesh Yadav had visited him to check on his recovery.

Although he was recently discharged following a slight improvement in his condition, his health deteriorated sharply at his residence early Wednesday morning. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital around 6:00 AM, where doctors unfortunately declared him dead upon arrival.

Despite being part of one of India’s most prominent political dynasties, Prateek Yadav chose to stay away from active electoral politics, carving out a niche as a successful businessman and fitness enthusiast.

An alumnus of the University of Leeds in the UK, he established himself in the real estate sector and owned ‘The Fitness Planet’ gym in Lucknow. He was widely recognized for his disciplined lifestyle and passion for fitness.

Beyond his business ventures, Prateek was a dedicated animal lover and founded ‘Jeev Ashray,’ an NGO focused on the rescue and medical care of stray animals.His death has triggered a wave of mourning across the political spectrum in Uttar Pradesh.

Prateek is survived by his wife, Aparna Yadav, who is currently the Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Leaders from both the Samajwadi Party and the BJP have expressed their deep condolences, describing his passing as a significant personal loss for the Yadav family.

Known for his calm and friendly nature, Prateek remained a private individual who focused on his professional interests and social work while maintaining strong personal bonds within his influential family.
