PM Modi Inaugurates 100-Week ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ Campaign to Drive Drug-Free India Initiative

Srinagar, August 2 :- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the launch of the nationwide “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” at a UT-level function organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports alongside SKUAST-Kashmir. Virtuallly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mega 100-week campaign marks a nationwide effort to eliminate substance abuse and empower India’s youth. Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized that India’s greatest strength lies in its young population, noting that nearly 65% of the population is below the age of 35, including 37 crore youth in the 15–29 age bracket ready to contribute to nation-building. He called on young people to lead healthy lifestyles and actively participate in national development, framing the initiative as a crucial social movement to instill self-discipline and positive determination across society.

The campaign connects youth nationwide through more than 35,000 MY Bharat youth clubs, Nehru Yuva Kendras, schools, colleges, and industry organizations every Sunday. Highlighting the achievements of Jammu and Kashmir’s recent 100-day campaign, Lieutenant Governor Sinha noted that strong enforcement measures resulted in around 2,300 FIRs registered, 2,600 arrests made, and 1,500 kilograms of narcotics seized. Furthermore, authorities attached over 331 properties worth nearly Rs 200 crore belonging to drug traffickers, alongside extensive cancellations of driving licenses and vehicle registrations. Beyond enforcement, the administration announced the upcoming Rehabilitation and Socio-Economic Reintegration Scheme for Drug Abuse Victims, featuring a three-year cycle focused on medical treatment, counseling, skill development, and long-term monitoring to ensure recovery and sustainable livelihoods for victims.
