Security Forces Arrest Terror Associate In Jammu And Kashmir Baramulla

BARAMULLA, Aug 2: Security forces apprehended an over ground worker and recovered illegal arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir Baramulla district on Sunday. The arrest was made during a joint check post operation set up at the Zandfaran Goriwan Crossing in the Narwav area.

The security operation involved personnel from the 46 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group Baramulla, 53 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force, and 112 Battalion Border Security Force as part of heightened regional security measures.During the routine check, security personnel noticed a suspicious individual approaching from the Goriwan side.

The individual attempted to flee upon spotting the joint check post, but alert security personnel pursued and detained him on the spot. A detailed search of the individual led to the recovery of a camouflaged MP5 type pistol, one magazine containing 10 live 9mm rounds, a mobile phone, and a black backpack.

The detained individual has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Namblan in Sheeri. Police have registered case FIR No. 37/2026 under relevant sections of the law at the Sheeri Police Station.

Further investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of his operational links and network activities. Security agencies including the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and acting against anti-national networks in the region.
