Fire and Fury Corps Launches Zanskar River Rafting Expedition to Honor Legend Col Sonam Wangchuk
LEH, AUGUST 01, 2026 — To honor legendary war hero Col Sonam Wangchuk, MVC, the Gunners of the Fire and Fury Corps launched a white-water rafting expedition along the Zanskar River from Padum to Nimu.
The event was flagged off in the presence of the Commander of the Dhanurdhari Gunners Brigade, alongside Dechen and Rinchen, the sisters of Col Sonam Wangchuk, MVC. Navigating challenging waters, the expedition serves as a tribute to the courage, resilience, and indomitable military spirit embodied by the Mahavir Chakra recipient, continuing to inspire future generations of soldiers stationed in extreme operational terrains.
