Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan: Udhampur Police Attach Assets Worth 12 Lakh Belonging to Notorious Drug Peddler

UDHAMPUR, April 17 — As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan and the Drugs Free Udhampur initiative, the Udhampur Police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics trafficking by attaching movable property valued at approximately 12 lakhs.

The action was taken against Rakesh Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal and a resident of Bishnah, Jammu, under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The attached asset, a Honda City car found with a fake registration number, was identified by investigators as being purchased through the proceeds of illicit drug trade.

This enforcement action is linked to FIR No. 265/2023, registered at the Rehambal Police Station.The department emphasized that this seizure is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the financial networks of drug traffickers while simultaneously conducting awareness campaigns to shield the youth from substance abuse.

During the investigation, it was clearly established that the accused had acquired the vehicle using money earned through the illegal sale of narcotics.

Consequently, the car has been formally seized and attached for further legal proceedings. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is still underway as they continue to target the roots of drug peddling in the region.
