Tragedy in Budgam: Two-Year-Old Nomadic Child Killed in Pampore Stray Dog Attack

PAMPORE, BUDGAM April 17,2026 — A wave of grief and terror has gripped the Zoonipora area of Pampore after a two-year-old boy from a nomadic family was killed by a pack of stray dogs on Thursday evening.

The victim, identified as Imran Mushtaq Khan, was playing near his family’s temporary shelter when the animals launched a sudden and violent attack.

Although local residents acted swiftly to rescue the toddler and rush him to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore, the severity of his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among the local community, highlighting a growing crisis regarding stray dog populations in the district.

Devastated family members and neighbors have called upon the authorities to move beyond temporary fixes and implement long-term safety measures.
