Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Vows to Dismantle the Drug Trade During Anti Narcotics Padyatra in Rajouri
RAJOURI, APRIL 18, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spearheaded a padyatra and addressed a massive public gathering in Rajouri today as part of the Drug-Free J&K campaign, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward cross-border narcotics smuggling.
Acknowledging the sensitivity of the border district, the Lieutenant Governor declared that the administration is determined to dismantle the drug trade and liberate society from the clutches of addiction.
He highlighted that since April 11, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated an intensive crackdown across the Jammu Division, resulting in over 45 FIRs, the arrest of 63 smugglers, and significant drug seizures within a five-day span.
This relentless drive has now expanded to include regular inspections of schools, pharmacies, and drug agencies to ensure a comprehensive sweep against the illicit trade.
During his address, the Lieutenant Governor framed the fight against substance abuse as a silent war, noting that while traditional battles happen at the borders, drug addiction has been a hidden struggle within countless households for years.
He characterized the 100-day crusade launched from Jammu’s MA Stadium as a total war against a menace that serves as a tool for neighboring sponsors of terrorism to weaken the nation’s fabric.
According to the Lieutenant Governor, the intensity of enforcement has already seen a threefold increase in registered cases over the last week.
He asserted that the combined might of society and the administration would break the back of drug networks within the stipulated 100 days, leaving no room for criminals to operate.
Focusing on prevention and rehabilitation, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that reaching children with awareness and self-respect is more effective than any later cure.
He instructed enforcement agencies to ensure exemplary punishment for traffickers and mentioned a newly crafted Standard Operating Procedure designed to obliterate smuggling networks and fast-track justice.
Beyond enforcement, the administration’s strategy encompasses a full spectrum of care, including counseling, detoxification, and aftercare.
To maintain accountability, officials have been directed to perform weekly audits of rehabilitation progress and enforcement actions while shutting down unauthorized centers.
To mark the initiative, the Lieutenant Governor administered an anti-drug pledge and inaugurated the Rajouri Premier League and Rajouri Football Club, utilizing sports and cultural performances to reinforce the message of a drug-free society.
