Pawan Khajuria Highlights Two Decades of Neglect and Infrastructure Decay in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, April 18, 2026:- Senior leader Pawan Khajuria addressed a significant press conference at his Sailan Talab office today to voice deep concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of the city.

Accompanied by social activists and local residents, Khajuria emphasized that despite the passage of twenty years, the city’s fundamental issues remain unresolved.

He pointed out that the perennial drinking water crisis continues to worsen each summer, forcing citizens to rely on expensive water tankers while many neighborhoods go weeks without a steady supply. This long-standing negligence has led to widespread public resentment as daily life remains severely disrupted.

The infrastructure of the city was another focal point of the briefing, with Khajuria describing the roads as being in a state of total ruin. He noted that for two decades, there has been a lack of proper construction and timely repairs, resulting in hazardous potholes that frequently lead to accidents, particularly affecting school children and daily commuters.

Furthermore, he criticized the ongoing sewerage project, stating that the disorganized and incomplete work has exacerbated the city’s woes. Instead of providing relief, the faulty system has caused filth and foul odors to spread, with rainwater often pushing sewage into homes and making local markets impassable.

Khajuria also highlighted the disconnect between administrative expansion and actual ground-level development. He remarked that while the number of city wards has increased from 12 to 21 over the years, there has been no proportional increase in facilities or sanitation staff.

Many wards still struggle with unpaved streets and a lack of basic hygiene services, proving that the expansion exists only on paper. Representing the frustration of the locals, he stated that elected representatives have consistently prioritized their positions over public welfare.

He concluded with a stern warning to the administration, demanding immediate permanent solutions to these grievances and stating that the public would be forced to launch a large-scale protest if their needs continue to be ignored. Prominent figures including Rakesh Gupta, Rajkumar Bucha, and Sanjay Verma were also present to support these demands.
