Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai Reviews Operational Readiness in Kumaon Region

KUMAON, April 21, 2026 — Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff for Strategy, recently conducted a high-level visit to the Kumaon region to assess operational preparedness and ongoing capability development.

During his tour, the General witnessed the high state of readiness maintained by the Panchshul Brigade, which is currently tasked with guarding the sensitive northern borders.

His visit focused on ensuring that strategic defenses remain robust amidst the challenging mountainous terrain.As part of the visit, the General interacted with both veterans and active-duty personnel from the Kumaon Regiment, Kumaon Scouts, and the Naga Regiment.

He praised the soldiers for their relentless vigilance and unbreakable resolve in maintaining the security of the frontier.

Beyond military duties, the General highlighted the significant contributions of these units toward nation-building and the integrated development of border areas.
