Jammu division reviews arrangements for Kheer Bhawani Mela yatra departure

JAMMU, June 16 — Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar chaired a high-level meeting today to review and finalize the logistical and security arrangements for the upcoming annual Kheer Bhawani Mela Yatra, which is scheduled to be flagged off from Nagrota in Jammu on June 20.

The meeting focused on establishing extensive inter-departmental coordination to ensure a smooth, secure, and hassle-free transit for the thousands of devotees participating in the annual pilgrimage.During the extensive deliberations, the Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation was instructed to deploy an adequate fleet of buses and closely monitor the transport logistics along the entire travel route.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all concerned line departments to ensure robust arrangements for the safety of pilgrims, continuous water and electricity supply, proper sanitation, efficient traffic management, and adequate medical facilities.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban was specifically tasked with overseeing the community kitchen facilities and rest stops where the pilgrim convoy will halt during its journey toward the final destination at the Tulmulla temple in Ganderbal.

Community leaders and religious representatives present at the review expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the administrative support provided for the annual event. Administrative officials confirmed that approximately 7,000 devotees have registered for the pilgrimage so far, with the main festival set to take place on June 22.

The coordination meeting was attended by the Managing Director of the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Ramban, and Udhampur, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner for Migrants, senior police superintendents, and heads of various tourism, health, and transport departments.
