Indian Army ramps up flood relief and rescue operations in Surat

Surat, August 2: The Southern Command of the Indian Army has intensified its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations across the flood-affected areas of Surat district in Gujarat.

Operating at Kim Village, specialized army teams have successfully rescued 194 stranded civilians and distributed essential supplies, including food and medical kits, to over 700 affected residents.

In addition to direct relief work, army personnel are closely coordinating with the local civil administration to help restore key infrastructure and essential services, particularly electricity.

To ensure a prompt response to the evolving flood situation, the Indian Army has pre-positioned nine specialized Relief and Rescue Columns at strategic points across Gujarat to support ongoing emergency efforts.
