Assam Rifles Clears Landslide and Provides Medical Aid in Manipur

KAMJONG June 17,2026 — Assam Rifles personnel successfully cleared a major landslide on the Kamjong to Shangshak Road near Nepali Khutti in Kamjong District, restoring a vital transportation link that had been blocked by heavy rainfall.

A 25-member team from the Chassad battalion used heavy machinery and rescue equipment to clear the debris and restore traffic movement within two hours, overcoming adverse weather and challenging terrain.

During the operation, the troops extended humanitarian assistance to affected citizens by providing medical aid and drinking water to stranded commuters. The team also assisted a grieving local family by carrying the coffin of Mirani Keising across the landslide site to ensure the final journey could proceed.
