Gold and Cash Seized as CISF Foils Smuggling Attempt at Delhi Airport
NEW DELHI, June 17,2026 — Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Delhi airport Terminal-1 intercepted a passenger bound for Kolkata after noticing suspicious behavior during a security screening.
A detailed search led to the discovery of 1.21 kilograms of gold hidden in the passenger’s clothes, alongside unaccounted cash totaling 197200 rupees. The passenger could not provide valid documentation or a clear explanation for the items.
During the interception, the passenger tried to bribe the duty personnel to escape legal consequences. The security team rejected the offer and reported the incident to senior officers.
The passenger, along with the seized gold and cash, was subsequently transferred to the Income Tax Department for further legal action.
