Udhampur Police Clarify Investigation Details and Warn Against Communal Rumors
Udhampur, May 13, 2026:- The Udhampur Police have issued a formal clarification regarding a criminal case registered at the Udhampur Police Station, addressing misleading and false narratives circulating on social media.
Authorities emphasized that certain reports attempting to introduce a communal or religious conversion angle to the incident are entirely baseless.
The police stated that FIR No. 175/2026 was filed on April 26, 2026, following a formal complaint involving allegations of criminal intimidation, abuse, assault, and attempted kidnapping.
The registered case includes various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, specifically focusing on charges related to physical assault and harassment. Currently, the matter is being investigated by a senior Gazetted Officer to ensure a thorough and lawful inquiry.
Officials have urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified or provocative content that could disrupt regional harmony, noting that such actions are irresponsible and interfere with the legal process.
