Udhampur police arrest attempt to murder case absconder evading justice for over 25 years

UDHAMPUR, June 25: A dedicated police team from Rehambal police station arrested a long-standing absconder who had successfully evaded arrest for over 25 years in connection with an attempt to murder case.

The arrested individual, identified as Mohd Afzal of Dara in Poonch district, was wanted in connection with a case registered under various sections including attempt to murder and kidnapping at Rehambal police station.

The accused had previously been declared an absconder under Section 299 CrPC after consistently evading judicial proceedings, which led the Sessions Court Udhampur and Munsiff Court Udhampur to issue arrest warrants against him back on September 29, 2001.

Acting decisively on these long-pending warrants, the Rehambal police team tracked down and apprehended the absconder today. The arrested accused will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
