DGP Nalin Prabhat reviews Amarnath Yatra security and counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir
SRINAGAR, June 25: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired a high-level meeting to assess security preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and ongoing counter-terrorism operations across Kashmir, directing all security agencies to strengthen the multi-layered security architecture and maintain sustained pressure on terror networks.
The review meeting was attended by senior officers of the Army’s Kilo Force, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, with district police chiefs presenting detailed briefings on deployment plans, threat assessments, and contingency response mechanisms.
The Director General of Police underscored the importance of seamless coordination among all security agencies, calling for heightened operational alertness, robust inter-agency synergy, real-time intelligence sharing, and prompt dissemination of actionable inputs to effectively counter emerging security threats.
Reviewing arrangements along the twin pilgrimage routes of Baltal and Pahalgam, the police chief instructed field formations to intensify area domination exercises, strengthen anti-sabotage operations, conduct comprehensive route sanitization, and perform regular security audits of transit camps and critical infrastructure.
Emphasizing technology-driven security measures, he directed district police chiefs to enhance surveillance capabilities, maintain strict vigil on anti-national elements, and continue intelligence-led operations against terrorist networks and their supporters.
Special emphasis was laid on convoy protection, with instructions to keep Quick Reaction Teams, rescue units, and medical response teams ready for swift deployment.
The meeting also addressed community engagement, disaster management preparedness, evacuation protocols, and communication systems, concluding with a collective commitment by all participating security agencies to ensure a safe, secure, and incident-free pilgrimage through round-the-clock vigilance.
