Director FCS and CA Jammu concludes field tour to remote Marwah and Warwan to review food supply
KISHTWAR, June 25, 2026 – Director of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Jammu Rajesh Kumar Shavan conducted an extensive five-day field tour to gear up the field agency on public issues and monitor the supply of essential commodities, including those under the Public Distribution System.
During the tour, the Director inspected food stores at Matigwarn and Mir Bazar, interacted with employees and inhabitants, and visited food stores and Fair Price Shops at Warwan, holding public meetings to obtain feedback on departmental functioning. Inhabitants expressed appreciation for the sustained efforts in ensuring regular and timely supply of quality foodgrains in these geographically challenging areas, particularly acknowledging the advance dumping of foodgrains for six months from June 2026 to November 2026 to meet exigencies arising from adverse weather and disrupted road connectivity.
During interactions, the public raised demands including the enhancement of the existing ration scale, transfer and verification of LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, improvement in LPG supply and allied services, and the provision of subsidized kerosene oil for inhabitants of these remote areas. At Marwah, Rajesh Kumar Shavan visited Ranie, Yourdu, and Nowapachi, where the public demanded the repair and renovation of food stores at Inshan and Nowpachi, construction of a dedicated food store at Warwan, and improvement of road connectivity to the Nowpachi store.
The Director also visited Sukhnie, the last human settlement in the region situated at an elevation of over 9,000 feet above mean sea level, where the public presented all departmental demands, including a request for new sale depots in the vicinity.
