Sarpanch Sammelan Strengthening Bonds, Securing Communities

Ramban April 14, 2026:- “SARPANCH SAMMELAN” Indian Army successfully organized a Sarpanch Sammelan with the aim of strengthening grassroots engagement and fostering enhanced civil-military cooperation in Tehsil Khari, District Ramban. The event witnessed the participation of approximately 40 individuals, including sarpanches, panches, numberdars and other key opinion makers from the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
In light of the prevailing security environment in Jammu & Kashmir, the Sammelan served as a significant outreach initiative to sensitize community leaders regarding their crucial role in maintaining local security and promoting public vigilance. Participants were briefed on the “Zimmedari System”, a proactive mechanism designed to encourage citizens to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities.
As part of the Indian Army’s continued commitment towards youth empowerment and nation-building, a dedicated career guidance session was also conducted. The session focused on preparing young aspirants for the Agniveer Recruitment Scheme and forthcoming Army recruitment opportunities. Practical guidance on eligibility criteria, preparation strategies and motivational inputs were shared. The initiative was well received and highly appreciated by the local populace, reflecting the Army’s positive impact on youth development.
