RPF personnel enhance counter IED skills for safer rail networks
LUCKNOW, May 8, 2026 — Surya Disposers conducted a specialized two-day counter-IED training cadre for personnel of the Railway Protection Force at Barabanki.
The training was organized as part of an ongoing disaster management course held at the Jagjivan Ram National RPF Academy in Lucknow, which serves as the national hub for basic and refresher training for officers and subordinate ranks.
A total of 42 trainees participated in the program, which focused on the prevention, mitigation, and response to explosives-related disasters.
The curriculum placed a specific emphasis on the critical role of the RPF as first responders within the railway network. Participants engaged in a comprehensive range of activities, including tabletop exercises, group discussions, and field drills designed to simulate real-world scenarios.
The sessions included detailed instruction on IED mechanisms, the disposal of unexploded bombs, and post-blast investigation techniques. Trainees also practiced the safe removal of explosive devices from railway bogeys using specialist equipment and approved safety protocols.
This training initiative is a significant step toward building operational capacity and improving inter-agency coordination to ensure a more secure environment for rail commuters.
