Punjab Police Bust Pakistan-Backed Terror Module; Arms and Ammunition Recovered

AMRITSAR, April 16 2026 — In a significant blow to cross-border terrorism, the Counter Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a terror module backed by Pakistan’s spy agency, the ISI.

During a coordinated joint operation conducted by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) units of Amritsar and Mohali, law enforcement officials apprehended one suspect and seized a substantial cache of weapons, including four hand grenades, two foreign-made pistols, and various rounds of live ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused was operating under the direct instructions of foreign-based handlers. Furthermore, authorities have established links between the suspect and the terror module previously involved in the grenade attack in Chandigarh.

An FIR has been formally registered at the PS State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar, as investigators work to track and apprehend remaining members of the network.

This operation underscores the Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to dismantling organized crime and maintaining public safety against external threats.
