Northern Army Commander Reviews Security and Counter-Terrorism Operations in Poonch

POONCH, MAY 12 — The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command conducted a high-level visit to the forward areas of Poonch and the Romeo Force Headquarters today to assess the prevailing security landscape and progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

During the visit, the Northern Army Commander was briefed on the military’s sustained domination of the Pir Panjal Range, the strengthening of the local intelligence network, and the seamless coordination maintained between various security agencies.

A key focus of the review included the specialized security arrangements established by Rashtriya Rifles Battalions to ensure the safe and smooth annual migration of the Gujjar-Bakarwal communities through the mountainous terrain.

Interacting directly with the troops stationed at the frontlines, the Northern Army Commander lauded their unwavering professionalism and high state of operational readiness. He commended the soldiers for maintaining a resolute grip on the region despite the challenges posed by rugged topography and extreme weather conditions.
