MLA Tarigami Reviews Power Infrastructure and Supply Initiatives in Kulgam
KULGAM, APRIL 23: MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, chaired a comprehensive review meeting today at the Rest House Chawalgam to evaluate the performance and infrastructure of the Power Development Department within the Kulgam constituency.
The session, attended by departmental officers and representatives from various agencies, focused on enhancing the stability of the local electricity grid and addressing the immediate concerns of the public.
Tarigami emphasized the necessity of a reliable power distribution network and instructed officials to prioritize the swift resolution of consumer grievances to ensure a more efficient utility service for the residents.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to monitoring the progress of centrally sponsored initiatives, specifically the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
Progress updates were also provided regarding essential community services, including the establishment of an uninterrupted power supply for PHC Behibagh.
Departmental officials confirmed that a proposal for a dedicated UPS backup system for the hospital is being fast-tracked and is expected to be finalized within the coming week.
Furthermore, the MLA reviewed the status of a dedicated power line for the Hanjer Lift Irrigation project, noting that technical estimates are complete and tendering will commence immediately upon receiving administrative approval.
The meeting concluded with discussions on expanding the regional infrastructure through the construction of a new receiving station at Katrusoo.
Tarigami directed officials to proceed with the land demarcation process promptly so the project could move into the execution phase. He underscored that seamless coordination between various government wings is vital for the timely completion of these power projects, which are essential for the district’s agricultural and domestic stability.
