AMRITSAR, AUGUST 01, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling and organized crime, the Counter Intelligence unit of Amritsar has successfully busted a high-profile drug trafficking network with the arrest of a key operative and the recovery of 20 kilograms of heroin.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the apprehended suspect was operating under the direct instructions of a foreign-based handler linked to international drug cartels, with his primary role involving the reception of heavy heroin consignments in the border belt and their subsequent distribution to illicit networks across Punjab.
