Kishtwar administration suspends Shri Machail Mata and Shri Mindhal Mata pilgrimage due to heavy rain and shooting stones

KISHTWAR, June 5, 2026 :- The District Administration Kishtwar has ordered the immediate suspension of both the Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2026 and the Shri Mindhal Mata Yatra 2026 for today due to deteriorating weather conditions across the region.

The district is currently experiencing continuous heavy rainfall, which has led to highly slippery road conditions and triggered a significant risk of shooting stones along the pilgrimage routes.

Authorities decided to halt the movement of devotees as a precautionary measure to guarantee the safety and well-being of all participants.In light of the sudden suspension, local officials have advised all pilgrims to defer their travel plans and avoid undertaking the journey today.

Those who are already in transit or planning to leave have been requested to remain at home or stay within safe indoor locations until the weather improves.

The District Administration Kishtwar emphasized that the safety order comes into force with immediate effect and stated that fresh updates regarding the resumption of the pilgrimage will be issued once the weather conditions stabilize and the tracks are deemed safe for travel.
