J&K Will Thwart Pakistan-Backed Terror Attacks Despite Intelligence Limitations Says Omar Abdullah

UDHAMPUR, April 22, 2026 :- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marked the first anniversary of the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack by reaffirming his government’s unwavering commitment to regional security and the protection of civilians.

Speaking in Udhampur, the Chief Minister described the anniversary as a heavy day for the entire Union Territory, reflecting on the lives lost during the incident. He emphasized that the victims were innocent tourists who had visited the valley to enjoy its natural beauty, only to have their lives cut short by an act of senseless violence.

Abdullah expressed profound sympathy for the grieving families, noting that the pain of that day remains a driving force behind the administration’s current security policies.The Chief Minister stressed the necessity of a unified front to combat the persistent threat of terrorism.

He called for seamless coordination between the elected JK Government, the central government, and various law and order agencies to ensure that such tragedies are never repeated.

According to Abdullah, the effectiveness of the region’s security apparatus relies on this collective effort. He maintained that the resolution made in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack—to safeguard every citizen and visitor—remains the top priority for his leadership.

Addressing concerns regarding cross-border threats and intelligence, Abdullah remained firm on the state’s defensive posture. While acknowledging that specific intelligence inputs are handled by specialized authorities, he sent a clear message regarding external interference.

He asserted that the Government is prepared to make every possible effort to thwart any attempts at destabilization originating from Pakistan.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that his government’s ultimate commitment is to ensure that even if such attacks are attempted, the security machinery will be robust enough to prevent them from succeeding, thereby maintaining peace and stability across Jammu and Kashmir.
