Jammu Divisional Commissioner Evaluates PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Implementation
JAMMU, MAY 12 — Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar chaired a high-level meeting today to assess the current progress and strategic rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana across the Jammu province. The session, which included key stakeholders such as the MD of Jammu Power Development Corporation Ltd (JPDCL), various Deputy Commissioners, and representatives from JKEDA, focused on quantifying district-wise applications and overcoming operational hurdles.
During the review, Commissioner Kumar emphasized the importance of mobilizing citizens to adopt the subsidized solar program, which is designed to significantly lower household electricity costs while transitioning the region toward sustainable green energy.
To ensure the scheme’s success, the Divisional Commissioner directed the JPDCL to launch intensive awareness campaigns and simplify the application process for the general public.
He specifically instructed Deputy Commissioners to hold regular reviews to maintain momentum and ensure the “expeditious implementation” of the solar initiative.
Additionally, the meeting touched upon the progress of smart metering under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), with the Commissioner calling for a more meticulous distribution of field teams to maximize coverage and improve billing efficiency throughout the division.
