Indian Army Hosts Drug Abuse Awareness Lecture in Mastandhara, Poonch to Empower Youth

POONCH, JULY 08, 2026 — In a continuous effort to promote public welfare and community outreach, the Indian Army organized an impactful Drug Abuse Awareness Lecture at Mastandhara in the Poonch district. The educational initiative was designed to sensitize local youth and community members about the severe physical, mental, social, and economic consequences associated with substance abuse, drug addiction, and smoking. Through this interactive session, organizers aimed to guide young individuals toward making informed, responsible life choices while highlighting critical indicators of addiction, methods to counter peer pressure, and the vital importance of seeking early support and counseling.

The program also placed a strong emphasis on the collective responsibility of families, educators, and community elders in safeguarding the younger generation from drug menaces and fostering healthier lifestyles. Drawing an encouraging response from the residents of Mastandhara, the event concluded on a high note with a collective “Drug Free Pledge”. During this closing ceremony, participants firmly resolved to stay away from illicit substances and actively contribute to building a safer, healthier, and more responsible society.
