Imphal Airport security forces seize four kilograms of suspected heroin from two passengers

IMPHAL, June 5, 2026:- Security personnel at the Imphal Airport successfully intercepted two departing passengers who were attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of suspected contraband through their luggage.

The Central Industrial Security Force personnel noticed highly suspicious behavior from one of the passengers at the departure entry gate during a random screening. The individual repeatedly resisted having their baggage screened, claiming that they were in an extreme rush to board their scheduled flight.

The resistance prompted the security team to conduct a more detailed screening using the X-ray baggage inspection system, which was immediately followed by a thorough physical examination of the luggage. This intensive search revealed a cache of suspected heroin hidden inside skillfully constructed false bottoms of two separate duffle bags.

A total weight of approximately 4.09 kilograms of the illicit substance was recovered from the bags, with one containing 2.05 kilograms and the other holding 2.04 kilograms.

A swift follow-up inquiry conducted by the security team at the terminal established the direct involvement of a second passenger, who was quickly tracked down and identified within the airport premises.

Both of the accused passengers were taken into custody and, along with the entire seizure of contraband drugs, were handed over to the local police department for formal booking and further legal proceedings.
