Galwan Challenge high altitude marathon concludes in Ladakh Shyok Valley

SHYOK VALLEY, JUNE 7 — The second edition of the Galwan Challenge concluded successfully in the spectacular yet demanding terrain of the Shyok Valley at an average altitude of 14,000 feet.

For the first time, the event featured both a 21-kilometer half marathon and 10-kilometer run categories, drawing enthusiastic participation from runners across the region and beyond. Participants displayed remarkable endurance, determination, and sporting spirit while competing in one of the highest and most challenging environments in the world.

The successful completion of the races celebrated the spirit of adventure, resilience, and perseverance amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh.

The inclusion of new race formats this year marks a significant expansion for the high-altitude athletic event, highlighting the growing athletic capability and tourism potential of the remote frontier region.
